“A mudança para uma economia circular é uma das chaves para um planeta mais sustentável. Isso significará aumentar a consciência de como as coisas são feitas, como são usadas e o que acontece com elas no final de suas vidas.
As artes muitas vezes podem transmitir esses princípios de sustentabilidade de forma mais simples, eficaz e tangível do que qualquer discurso político. E a imaginação criativa pode encontrar novas maneiras de tornar a economia circular uma realidade.
Por exemplo, todos nós podemos reciclar nosso plástico indesejado, papel e alimentos se as instalações e recursos existirem - mas nem todos os plásticos são recicláveis. E se pudéssemos transformar resíduos de alimentos em novos tipos de materiais de embalagem biodegradáveis, em vez de usar plástico em primeiro lugar? É exatamente o que o projeto Material Designers (MaDe) faz.
Alguns dos projetos da Europa Criativa não têm aplicações práticas imediatas como MaDe. Outros, como Imagine 2020, são mais poéticos - mas ainda assim convincentes - tentativas de aumentar a conscientização, nos convidando a refletir sobre o que usamos e o que jogamos fora.”
